With America's economy the way it is there is no question that the amount of money people are going to spend is plummeting to the ground. Microsoft looks like they are going to be cashing in this holiday though. Microsoft revealed their "Xbox 360 Holiday Entertainment Survey" results today and got some results that should put some green in Microsoft's stockings this holiday season.
The general statement throughout the survey was that families aren't going to be spending much money on travel this holiday season and that a majority of teens want and expect at least one video game under the tree this holiday!
Here are some more indepth points:
"With rising costs and families across the country looking to cut down on their spending, three out of five Americans surveyed responded that they are planning to spend either Thanksgiving, December holidays and New Years at home or close to home to save money.
With two thirds of those surveyed saying they are planning to spend less on friends and family than they did last year, on average Americans reported that they plan to reduce holiday gift spending by 16 percent compared to 2007.
With everyone counting the pennies a little more carefully this year, more than half of those questioned said that they plan on spending more time at home hanging out with their families. 20 percent surveyed also admitted that they sit around with their families over the holiday with nothing to do. 81 percent of adults in households with children are interested in gifts that provide family and friends with entertainment while staying home, with two in five moms saying they find it difficult to keep everyone amused.
Video games continue to rise in popularity with 86 percent of young adults hoping to find at least one game in their stocking this Christmas. A recent Microsoft and Harris Interactive study also found that 64 percent of parents would spend more time playing video games if it was an activity the family could do together.
With all this extra time to spend together and families looking to make their holiday money go even further than usual, with 71 percent surveyed said they were looking to find a gift that brings their family together, with more than half preferring a single present the whole family can enjoy."
We knew this was coming, not everyone can afford Left 4 Dead, Gears of War 2, Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero World Tour, Mirror's Edge, Fallout 3,
and Fable II. So save your pennies LockoutGaming! Your going to wish you did once Christmas rolls around!
