Gears of War in my Lost Planet?
by Shwan on Jan.27, 2010, under Gaming
In the most recent trailer for Lost Planet 2 about half way through the video Marcus and Doom show up and decimate a big alien, which is followed by the logo for Gears of War and Lost Planet combined. Just like everyone else I was confused but quickly found Cliff bleszinski’s explanation that he told to Kotaku.
They [Capcom] contacted us about the cameo and we said ‘heck yeah, We’re mutual fans of each other’s work and crossovers are darned cool so we sent over the Marcus and Dom models for implementation.
Does this mean Lost Planet will adopt the Gears of War controller configuration?
I can’t speak about the controls for LP2, Anything else about how it’s accessed or used in game remains to be revealed. I’ll leave that to Capcom’s capable hands.
Upload Anything to Google Docs
by Shwan on Jan.21, 2010, under Technology
As of today Google is now letting any file type but uploaded to Google Docs including pictures documents and .zip/.rar! To take advantage just press the upload button like normal and the file will be stored on Google. The most useful feature for me is the ability to upload pictures, previously I had been using Photobucket which is slow, ugly, and chalk full of ads. now i upload all of my pictures to Google which provides more space and better organization. Just make sure when uploading photos that your sharing settings allow other people to see them.
Google gives you 1gb of free space and you can buy more for 25 cents per gig. Which makes Google docs a great online backup solution for some big or important files. if you haven’t been using Google Docs now is the time.

Xbox Live Game Room announced at CES
by Shwan on Jan.07, 2010, under Gaming

Before the official announcement happened there was a leaked interview with Back explaining what Game Room is all about, and the transcript is below:
Well, Game Room in some ways is sort of a retro approach. And it’s interesting, there’s a generation of people — sort of my advanced, mature age [laughs] — who grew up with a set of games like Centipede. They look almost like casual, fun games today — at the time they were high-end, edgy games — and so Game Room is the idea of bringing that back to the market. And bringing that to a very broad audience. And I think what we’re gonna find is that when people can get 30 or more of these games, they’re gonna love it for the experience. And it’s not just you and I who are gonna love it, even the people who would call themselves “hardcore gamers” are gonna say “Oh wow this is fun!” In a retro way. It’s sort of like my daughter going to watch Journey. I’m like, this is a band that was playing when I was growing up. And she thinks it’s a cool band and I like the music. And I think you’re gonna have the same phenomenon with Game Room. We’re gonna enjoy the games and they’re gonna think it’s cool. I think that’s very powerful.
Game Room is a virtual arcade which is apparently customizable in which you play very old but classic games, over 1000 of them in the next 3 years to be exact. Paying for the Game Room you will have two options, you buy the game for 240-400 Microsoft points, or you can pay 40 MSpoints to play the game once you know to get that old arcade feeling.. I don’t understand why they just don’t release all those games on XBLA instead of releasing the weird thing but that’s just me. It almost looks like a cartoon version of Sony’s Home that hopefully is without lines to play the games. The Game Room video is below what do you guys think?

USERMAPS
1. Start off forge by going to a new map and clearing it out.(everything deleted)
2. Place your items on the map, I used frag grenades.

3. Check “Save as New Map” to save your map onto your memory unit.
4. Extract the map off your memory unit using Xplorer360.(you con tell by the date or if you open it up in CONcept it will tell you the map name)

5. Grab the idents of the items you placed and what you wish to swap with using Johnson and the relative .map file for your forge map. My frag grenades were E9FB0885 and spartans are FD971BC3.
(or use my post of all the MAP Tags)
http://www.lockoutgaming.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=84
6. Swap out the idents in Hex workshop by using the replace feature.

7. Save the hex edited map.
8. Open the con file in CONcept then click Resign/Hash

9. Put the resigned map back onto the memory unit and load up the map. You may need to load up a new map, then load the modded one again for the edits to show up properly.

How to open your Xbox Live NAT
by Shwan on Dec.20, 2009, under Technology
In this tutorial you will learn make your bit torrent download speeds improve. We recommend you know a bit about networking and back up your routers settings before you attempt any of this as we don’t want to ruin your router!
The first step to both is to know what your IP address assuming your computer has a static IP address – if it does not go here and find out how to create one. Once you have done that:
Open the start menu and search for cmd then run it.

When the program opens type ipconfig and locate your IP address.

Then go to http://192.168.1.1/ (this varies depending on your router it could also be http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.2 check your routers manual if you are unsure) a box will pop up asking for a user name and password. A list of default usernames and passwords can be found here. remember the password is the password that is on your router.
Go to your “security” tab and make sure you have these setting. Different routers my look different, but it should be straight forward.

Different routers look differently but try and find you way to the “port range forwarding” or “port forwarding section of your router.
For Bit torrent:
Open port 17120 a common port for bit torrent as shown below.

Make sure that the port is open by using PFPortcheck
Then go into your bit torrent program of choice (mine happens to be uTorrent) and tell it what port to use. Options>Preferences>Connection.

Congratulations now your bit torrent downloads will improve, just make sure your not downloading anything illegal.
To open your NAT for your xbox you will first need to create a static IP on the xbox. To do this:
1. Scroll up to “My Xbox”
2. Scroll across to “System settings”
3. Select “Network Settings”
4. Select “Configure Network”
5. Hit A to go into your IP address settings
6. Select “Manual”
7. First of all select the IP address tab, your IP address needs to be in the format 192.168.1.X (X can be any three numbers you want – I recommend you go for something small like 169, which is what I have done)
8. Then enter your subnet mask this is typically 255.255.255.0
9. Your gateway should be the address of your router – for me it’s 192.168.1.1
After you have set up the Static IP you are now ready to forward your ports – I will be showing you this on my Linksys router – your steps may be different.
1. Log in to your router.
2. Go to the administration tab and check “enable UPnP”. UPnP stands for universal plug and play and basically allows for you to connect easily to other peers. If this is not enabled enabling it will sometimes open your NAT. In this guide though I’ll show you all the steps to make sure it 100% is open.
3. Enter this data under the “Applications and Gaming” Tab and under the “Single Port Forwarding” sub-menu
I have found that these ports open your NAT regardless of whether you add forward the 55 port or not. Hit save and then you’re done and your NAT should be open to set just use the tester featured on the Xbox

by Shwan on Dec.16, 2009, under Gaming
Although I personally haven’t played Assassin’s Creed 2 I keep hearing nothing but good things. I Respect how they are trying to keep the game accurate to history and i feel bad for not playing the game yet. This DLC continues on the promise of historically correct content well if you don’t count Ezio.
- “Battle of Forli” $3.99
- “Bonfire of the Vanities” $4.99
